Why Locals Love Chowking

Located conveniently at 131 W Carson St in Carson, CA, Chowking offers a vibrant and authentic taste of Filipino-Chinese cuisine that promises to delight both families and solo diners alike. As a standout Chinese restaurant and dim sum spot with a distinctly Filipino flair, Chowking masterfully balances tradition and accessibility, creating a dining experience that feels both welcoming and comforting.

Step inside, and you’ll appreciate the clean, cozy atmosphere where friendly staff ensure every visit feels personal and cared for. The space might be modest, but it’s thoughtfully arranged to accommodate intimate meals and lively lunches alike. Whether you’re grabbing a quick takeaway or settling in for a family meal, the warm service underscores a genuine commitment to customer satisfaction.

The menu is a treasure trove of savory delights, featuring iconic dishes that paint a vivid picture of Chinese and Filipino culinary fusion. Among the must-tries is the Chicken Mami—a flavorful bowl of al dente noodles swimming in a rich broth, topped with tender chicken strips, fresh cabbage, delicate fried garlic, fried onions, egg slices, and bright green onions. Each spoonful bursts with harmonious layers of texture and flavor, making it a perfect comfort food. Equally tempting is the hearty Wonton Noodle Soup, boasting a generous portion of luscious broth, perfect noodles, and four plump wonton balls, enhanced by a crisp medley of fresh cabbage and fried onions.

For noodle lovers, the Pancit Canton delivers classic stir-fried noodles vibrant with savory seasoning and a satisfying bite. It’s a dish that invites you to savor every twirl of forkfuls rich in umami goodness.

Finish your meal with a sweet Filipino twist. The Halo-Halo is a sensory marvel: finely shaved ice layered with an enticing mix of sweetened preserved fruits, creamy ube jam, chewy tapioca pearls, luscious caramel flan, and a refreshing scoop of ube ice cream. This dessert offers a playful contrast of textures and a symphony of flavors that cool and delight in every spoonful. For those seeking a simpler sweetness, Taho, made of warm silken tofu, rich caramelized dark sugar syrup, and soft tapioca pearls, offers a soothing end to your meal. The golden Buchi, with its crisp sesame-coated exterior and sweet red bean filling, provides a satisfying crunch followed by a tender, sweet center.

Attention to detail extends even to the condiments and utensils, where you can personalize your meal experience with spiced vinegar, chili garlic oil, or sweet and sour sauce packets to elevate the delightful flavors further.

I love getting siopao and siomai here for lunch! Their taho is also pretty authentic for a fast food place, and the value of everything is good too. The staff is nice and the place is a little small but big enough to dine-in still.

It's ok. Portion have gotten smaller. Noodles need to be cooked more, mine were a bit raw. Area is sketchy with homeless coming inside to pick trash

Chowking (131 W Carson St, Carson, CA 90745) never disappoints! The Beef Wonton Noodles are flavorful and comforting, perfect for satisfying any craving. The Sago’t Gulaman and Naicha Milk Tea are refreshing and perfectly balanced in sweetness. Their Halo-Halo is a must-try — creamy, colorful, and filled with all the classic Filipino ingredients. And the Taho is just like home — warm, soft, and sweetly nostalgic. Overall, great food, friendly service, and a clean, inviting atmosphere. Definitely a 5-star experience for anyone craving authentic Filipino-Chinese comfort food!
